A Glimpse of Italian History in Italian Cuisine

Italians are very sociable people. They love celebrations as this gives them the opportunity to mingle with friends and bring out the wine. They bring out Italy in them in every opportunity that there are Italian shoes for special occasions and even Italian wedding favors for weddings.

The richness of the Italian heritage is also evident as well in their cooking. Some of their recipes did not even change even for those that were invented hundreds of years ago. What is important in Italian cooking is the freshness of the ingredients and staying true to the methods of Italian cooking.

Known to be one of the oldest culinary traditions in the world, Italian cooking originates from Greek and Roman culinary influence. Some cuisines have regional influence as well. Pasta is their main staple, and they also have some of the most extensive vineyards in the world, making them one of the top producers of wine in the world. Italian wines are exported throughout the world and some can cost thousands of dollars because they seem to have perfected the art of making wine and adapts them in some of their specialty wines.

When tomatoes were introduced in France, they were used in sauces for different pastas and most popularly in pomodoro sauces. For the noodles, it is believed that Italian merchants traveled to Asia, were influenced by Asian culture, and added pasta as their main staple. But Italian noodles were made of durum wheat unlike the traditional Asian noodles, which were made of egg and plain flour. For the merchants who traveled to the Far East, it has been said their gift to Italian cuisine is the use of herbs and spices.

For the regions, Milan is the city known for their perfect risotto recipe, while Naples is frequented for their divine pizza recipes. The coastal regions, mainly because of their location, use fish and other seafood produce in their cooking.

Italian cuisine will always remain popular at dining tables around the world. From kids enjoying pizza to the adults enjoying sips of Italian wines, their dishes and wines will always be present and be included in top menu choices. The use of Italian herbs and seasonings will also influence amateur cooks and professional chefs around the world to infuse their dishes with freshness and tanginess.
