Effective and Fun Bridal and Wedding Registry Tips

Bridal registries, when done effectively, become an opportunity to get all those items that you want and need as you start off your life anew together. After all those wedding expenses, from the personalized invitations to that exotic Caribbean menu to those personalized bath wedding favors, the gifts that other people get you can be a great help.

Bridal and wedding registries are fairly commonplace nowadays and it is accepted etiquette to create one to help your guests choose useful gifts. Although you do not want to list the registry items on the actual invitation, it is useful to include it as a separate attachment. The wedding registry will help your guests find you a gift and also prevent them from getting duplicates of the same things. Through the registry, they will know exactly what you need and what you want. Check out these tips to make your bridal registry a pleasant and effective experience.

-Organize your list – Instead of taking back or regretting gift choices you receive, take the time to sit down and organize your list, putting in the most important items. Do not send your entire laundry list as a lot of items can be overwhelming and you may end up with the least important ones. Make the registry big enough so that everyone can get you a gift, but not too big that important items are overlooked.

-Register a few months before the wedding – Registering too soon may mean that some of the items may no longer be available in the store’s inventory or waiting too late may make it difficult for your guests to get the item in time.

-Check up on the progress – Once you finish your bridal registry, ensure that you can have a day, preferably 3-4 weeks before the wedding, to check which items have been purchased. You may be surprised to see that only one or a few of the items have been selected. If only one item or one category is popular, you may want to expand your item choices. Consider the brand, the appeal and the price range of these items as they may look acceptable to you at first, but may be too expensive for your guests.

-Bridal registry services – Beneficial to both you and your guests, ask if they have shipping services so guests can have them sent directly to your place. Ask if guests can do online purchases as well. Plan ahead and know that some guests may purchase gifts after the wedding so ask if your bridal registry will still be active by then. Ask as well for choices on gift-wrapping.
