How to Make Bath Salts

Bath salts make bathing a truly rewarding activity. It can make you feel as if you can see old cells being washed away, giving way to clearer and more beautiful skin. Scented salt baths are also a treat as these soothing scents can also wash away tension and stress. Bath salts are great, but they can burn your wallet if you purchase them regularly. Or they might cause you allergies or dry skin if you have poor quality bath salts. On the other hand, you can make your own bath salts that are natural and will cost you even half the price of regular bath salts.

For basic bath salts, combine one part Epsom salt with two parts regular sea salt and store in a dry jar. You can use this bath salt in itself, but if you want to add fragrance, you can put at least 5 drops of your favorite scent into the mixture for a mild fragrance. If you want to make it stronger, put 10 drops of the essential oil. Do not exceed this amount if you are using a medium sized jar as too much will cause the scent to be too strong.

Another easy recipe is by combining one part regular salt, one part baking soda, and an equal amount of Epsom salt. Combine the ingredients and store them in a dry and tightly closed jar. Again, you can opt top have these scented by putting a few drops of aromatic oil in them.

For a very earthy and natural bath salt, fill a jar by layering salt and chopped herbs alternately. Start off with a layer of salt at the bottom of the jar and then put chopped lavender or rosemary on top. Continue laying up to the top of the jar, cover it with plastic before sealing them in with the metal jar lid, and store them in a cool, dark, dry place for at least 15 days.

With these simple steps, you can easily make bath salts for your own personal use, sell them as a homemade gifts for special occasions or you can make mini bottles and give them away as bath wedding favors. Complete the look by placing sticker labels and putting other accessories or embellishments on the jar. This can give it that upscale look and make them look more soothing instantly. Store the jars of bath salts away from heat and avoid getting water droplets inside the jar.
