Ideas and Recipes for Chocolate Drinks

Women and chocolate are hard to tear apart, and men often like chocolate as well. For years, chocolate has been used in ordinary candies, Girl Scout cookies, baby shower chocolate cakes, and many other cooking recipes.

However, asides from chocolate milk, most people rarely think to use chocolate in their drinks. Here are a few mixes for popular drinks that have chocolate as the main ingredient.

Irish Cocoa Drink – this is similar to Irish coffee, but using vodka and chocolate instead. Mix chocolate yogurt with vodka, Bailey’s, and chocolate liquor in a blender with lots of ice. Blend till smooth and serve immediately in a tall glass. Do not let stand or it will just get grabbed by someone else!

Choco-tini (spicy) – spice up the chocolate martini by blending together in a shaker coffee, cinnamon sticks, vodka and chocolate ice cream. Shake until the shaker frosts and pour into rimmed glasses that had been dipped in a mixture of cocoa syrup and cinnamon liqueur. Chili powder can be added for an extra kick. Careful, this spicy chocolate drink can be addicting and is an appetite stimulant.

Choco-tini (sweet) - some do not like spicy chocolate and would settle for a good old sweet martini. Again, mix in a shaker the following: creme de cacao, chocolate vodka or plain vodka, cream and chocolate milk. Pour a little molten chocolate or syrup around the rim of the glasses. Shake and pour the mixture into the glass.

Choco-Banana Рif you like both bananas and chocolate, then this is the drink for you. In a mixer, blend in banana liquor, cr̬me de cacao liqueur, cocoa powder, vanilla syrup, milk and a chopped banana. This will come out more like a smoothie so add a lot of ice. Serve in a glass and top with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles.

Cherry Chocolate – this is a really good cherry drink flavored with chocolate. Mix up amaretto, grenadine and cocoa syrup with some cream. Serve in a shot glass.

For those who don’t like alcoholic drinks but still love chocolate drinks, don’t add any of the liquors. Why not just do the traditional cocoa drink in a hot pan and add lots of marshmallows instead of sugar. Once the ingredients are melted pour in natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup. Serve in a mug and top off with more marshmallows. This is a great drink that can be enjoyed any time of the day.

There are other more chocolate drinks that anyone could search for online or in books. Choose non-alcoholic chocolate drinks to serve to children and non-drinkers while other adults can indulge in the alcoholic ones.
