Soaps, Shower Gels, and Bath Salts – A Quick Comparison

Bath and body products are essential in every household because just about everyone needs to stay clean. Although soap is the most common product used in bathing, shower gels and bath salts are two other popular items that people like to use.

These items can also make great gifts for any occasion. Soaps are always a great idea and good thing that almost everyone uses them. Shower gels and bath salts are also popular. Here are some of the pros and cons in choosing between bath gels, regular soap and bath salts.

Soap Pros and Cons:
Soap comes in several shapes, sizes, colors and they are great as gifts. There are even soap chips which could be just bottled and given as is. For someone who is constantly on the lookout for soaps that may suit the theme of the party, online shops offers a lot of choices, there are even shops that can custom design the soaps. So for example, the theme is all about nuts then peanut shaped soaps can be given away. For those who are into all natural items, glycerine soap with herbs in them could also be a great gift. Glycerine soap is especially treasured for they are hypoallergenic compared to some customized soaps which may not be made from natural ingredients. There are some that are so strong that they are only good for washing some clothes. Then there are those soap leaves which come in boxes or are shaped like flowers. These are great decorative yet functional soaps displayed on the bathroom sink.

Since soaps can be shaped into various things, they can make themed gifts and wedding favors or soap baby shower favors. Soap is generally inexpensive as well. The downside of soaps is that sometimes they contain harsh chemicals that may not agree with people who have sensitive skin and also the thin slivers that result when the bar is almost depleted can be an annoyance.

Gel Pros and Cons:
Gel soaps are easy to store and they can be taken around without fear as they come scented. These come in attractive colors and scented and they can be bottled or put in small plastic bottles as well. No one can really truly say that they do not like gels as the presentation is always attractive. They also have a soothing texture when applied to the skin. The only thing that can go against it is if the container used is really thin and breaks resulting in leakage. Also, the bottles have to be discarded, which is less environmentally friendly than soap.

Bath Salts Pros and Cons:
Bath salts are especially treasured for put in a hot bath it can leach away the aches and pains of the body after a really stressful day at work. There is even no need to keep them in a cabinet as they come stored in pretty sealed bottles that could be decorative as well. Receiving one as a souvenir is always welcome even if the need is not immediate. Bath salts can stay for a long time in a sealed bottle. These are useful for luxurious bathing experiences and to pamper oneself. The cons are that undissolved salts can clog the shower drain and the dye can also cause stains if too much is added to the salts.
