Dos and Don’ts When Pregnant

Becoming pregnant is a truly exciting phenomenon that affects the life of every woman. There is nothing more special than feeling your baby growing up inside your womb.

This special period calls for some new, healthy practices. Certain activities are recommended while you need to forget about others. In order to keep yourself and your baby healthy, you will have to give up on the bad habits.

Here is a list of the biggest dos and don’ts for pregnant women.

Pregnancy Dos
The healthier and happier you feel, the more satisfied you will be with your pregnancy. certain practices will diminish the chance of morning sickness, discomfort and pregnancy complications.

Now is the time to start a healthy diet. You need to gain weight in a way that is beneficial for the baby. Increase the intake of fruits, vegetables, foods rich in fiber and proteins. You will also need calcium – drink milk and consume dairy products.

Have at least five small meals per day. If you feel like pampering yourself with some chocolate, you should certainly go ahead. Eating everything in moderation is one of the best nutritional habits.

Begin exercising. A fit body will guarantee you problem-free pregnancy. Join a yoga class. Take walks in the park. Avoid strenuous exercises and exceptionally difficult workouts. You can start those once you give birth.

Start taking prenatal vitamins. Your body needs folic acids and other supplements, while it is getting prepared for the birth of your child. Consult your doctor about the best food supplements and vitamins for your needs.

Attend medical exams on a regular basis. You need to find out early on about any medical problem that you or the baby may be having. Diagnosis and prevention are essential during any stage of life and especially during pregnancy.

Relax and pamper yourself. You should feel good in order to enjoy your pregnancy. An occasional massage or aroma therapy can do miracles in terms of making you feel brand new.

Pregnancy Don’ts
This is the best time to get rid of some bad habits. Remember that they will be affecting you and your unborn child.

The first thing you need to do is give up smoking. There is no reason to explain why tobacco smoke is dangerous for your baby. It would be best to forget about cigarettes several months before you try to get pregnant. Your body will need some time to get rid of the toxins.

The same applies to alcohol drinking. A beer or a glass of wine once in a few months is far from harmful but if you are used to a Friday night of clubbing, you should probably reconsider your priorities.

Stress is an absolute no during pregnancy. You will probably have to go to work while pregnant but refrain from accepting new projects that will increase your workload and your stress level.

Eating junk food is another big don’t. It contains no useful nutrients and it will solely make you gain weight.

Strenuous exercise and physical activity is out of the question, as well. Let your body relax. Take the time to sleep well and rest. Challenging physical activities should be resumed after you give birth.
