5 of the Most Expensive Gifts Ever Given

For people of all ages, receiving gifts is probably the most anticipated event. Whether for personal celebration or on social events, giving and receiving gifts is something that people always look forward to.

For kids, receiving toys made out of plastic is exciting enough. When people grow older, people sometimes expect more lavish or unique gifts. Some will give practical items as gifts, while other people will give something with more of a sentimental value.

For the high-rollers in the society, these gifts are never enough. Their gifts should be one of high monetary value and something that would stir curiosity and envy in their society. For practical reasons as well, these gifts can also serve as an investment for them and for the financial security of their loved ones.

Giving jewelry as gifts is something that has been going on due to tradition, a sense of elegance, and for it to suit their personal style.

1. Dubbed the best jewelry the British collection has to offer, the 40.63-carat Burma ruby is cut with the shape of the heart and comes with a diamond necklace with over 150 carats. Because of its rarity, you can have it as your own if you’re willing to shell out $14 million.
2. It is worth over $16 million, oval-shaped diamond ring, designed with triangular-shaped diamond shoulders and pave-set diamond band in white gold (at 18 carats) – the Chopard Blue Diamond Ring commands a tag price of $1.7 million per carat.
3. Auctioned at the popular Sotheby’s in Hong Kong, you can get the Blue Diamond at nearly $8 million.
4. Called the most expensive engagement ring, The Novo Yellow Diamond Ring is a 25.27 carat diamond ring set in platinum and yellow gold. Commanding a staggering price of $1.35 million, you can get it exclusively at Tiffany’s.
5. The Magnificent Diamond and Emerald Necklace from Chopard’s “Haute Joaillerie” collection boasts a lavish combination of white and green stones. Deservingly amounting to more than $3 million, this necklace has 16 carats of rose-cut and teardrop-shaped diamonds.

Valued gems and stones are some of the highly-esteemed gifts in the world today. While we envy the proud owners of these gifts, we also must be able to appreciate and look at the other gems and jewels that our loved ones gives us – maybe even including travel souvenirs or crystal favors. They may only be worth hundreds or thousands of dollars and might seem insignificant compared to this list, but as they say, sometimes, it really is the thought that counts.
