Exciting Ideas for Gift Packaging

Every year, people give gifts – whether for a birthday, a congratulatory gift, a wedding, or a farewell gift – everyone gets to give and receive gifts. While the gift in itself is the main ‘star’ of gift giving, one must also put the same effort and excitement in preparing gift packaging. Especially during Christmas, where gifts are given in advance and gets to sit on the Christmas tree, part of the excitement is looking at the wrapped gift (and its wrapping of course) and anticipating the day when you will open it.

If you have stayed with the usual gift wrapping for the past years, it is time to be a little more creative and give gifts unique and exciting packaging.

- Have a theme for your gifts.
If you are giving a valentine gift, have your wrapper in red and in heart shape. If you are giving a congratulatory gift, it is preferred you stay away from red this time and opt for gold or blue. At the same time, if you are giving a baby gift, make the wrapper and the colors young and playful as well.

- Use different colors to standout.
Do not limit your colors to using red and gold, for example, during Christmas. You can use any color that you fancy to make your gift fancy as well. In the gift table, you may want to see your gift not blend in but rather standout and look special because the wrapper itself is unique. Use ribbons in another shade or the card in a unique shape (heart or Santa hat) to make it everything about the gift unique.

-Use homemade materials.
Use boxes, ribbons, and cloth that you already have at home. You can combine any or all of these old materials to create something that reflects your personality and creativity. Use a food tray that you already have if you are giving food gifts. Get a big box and cut them into smaller ones to make souvenir boxes or wedding favor boxes.

Make gift giving fun not just for the receiver but for you as well. This can be the time where you can express your creativity and freedom of expression. Do not be afraid to experiment as this can be the way where you can stay away from the original, yet have something that the receiver will truly appreciate.

Remember that the person receiving your gift will most likely equate your feelings towards them with how careful you are and how thoughtful you are in giving the gift. By giving something in unique and different packaging, the receiver of your gift will truly appreciate the effort and the time you have given in making the gift special.
