Have Fun with the Family This Winter

Winter cold may give you the blues. But when families are prepared, they can have a lot more fun than any other time of the year. Remember that during the holiday season, people anticipate the festivities of Christmas. But you don’t have to wait until then to have fun. You can have fun everyday with lots of activity choices you can have with the whole family.

- Take this time to sink in all of nature’s beauty and remember to bring your camera with you for some breathtaking landscape shots.

- Gather your friends and invite them to ice skate in your area.

- Go to the hills and have a sledding competition.

- An ice maze obstacle course in the backyard will bring out the child in everyone.

- Help family and friends prepare for the Christmas party, a reunion or a wedding by packing Christmas goodies or winter wedding favors.

- Share warm stories with your neighbors while sipping hot cocoa on the porch.

- Get a wagon and pull it around town with someone or your pet dog in it.

- It is a classic and building a snowman will always be fun as it is something you will do with family and friends. A carrot for his nose and a silly hat will make for laughter and wonderful photos afterwards.

- Shoveling snow can make for a fun activity while helping out and doing a chore at the same time.

- Building an igloo is never dull. No matter what age you are, you’ll still have fun doing this.

- Gather pinecones outside and make wonderful winter decor and crafts.

- Be inspired with the cold weather and write a short story or some poetic verses.

- Go and see the different animals that are running from the cold weather. You may be excited to see which ones you’ll see.

- Get a blanket, a warm sandwich and hot apple cider and have a winter picnic.

- Star gazing is a fun activity for everyone on a cold night.

- Feed ducks and other water birds.

- Looking at Christmas decoration in the different homes in your area is a great way to let time pass by.

- Bake cookies and enjoy its freshly-baked goodness with the family

- Have a pizza party with warm homemade pizza. Let the kids join in and help.

- Watch winter movies on DVD while enjoying hot tea or coffee.

These are definitely things you can look forward to year after year. As long as you are open to exploring and trying out new things, the winter blues will no longer affect you. The snow will make all the difference and that joyful feeling of Christmas time will definitely let you look forward to another day of activities with the family. While some may seem ordinary, the people you are spending it with are special, thus making every moment special as well and truly memorable.
