Playing Your Wedding Songs

Choosing the music for your wedding is totally different from choosing the songs in your iPod. Especially for more traditional weddings, there are certain song sets that you would have to play during the ceremony. Music can greatly affect the mood of your wedding and organizing your wedding music will require planning and delegation so that everything will go smoothly, from the reception to the distribution of wedding favors.
Playing your wedding songs will not be as easy as playing music on your iPod as well. Here are some things that you have to check to ensure that sweet music will constantly fill your wedding.

The music that you want to play should be approved by the church (if you will be having a church wedding) because most traditional Catholic churches still require traditional wedding songs as well. For the reception, check if the venue has enough electrical plugs that you can use, particularly if your reception is in a garden. For the background music, whether you will be having CDs or a wedding singer, ensure that the CD is compatible with the player.

Do not rely on the wedding singer to pick the choice of songs. So that there will be no unpleasant surprises, check if the song list that he or she has is the same as what you have in mind. If not, you can make recommendations on how to improve them. For the reception party, choose a wide range of songs across many generations as your guests may have a wide age range as well.

The key here is to finalize the playlist and ensure that the singer or your coordinator or the band can troubleshoot any problems that may suddenly arise and not require your attention anymore. Always have someone behind the sound system as well to make sure that the microphone will be on and the background music off whenever needed. Have the band do their usual sound check before the guests arrive, and not upon their arrival.

Just like in any situation, music can uplift any awkward moments that may arise. Whether popular songs or songs that have played a major part in your relationship, the music played during your wedding should make not just you, but your guests feel special as well. Consider everyone in your choice of songs. That while you cannot please everyone, just ensure that majority of your guests will get to enjoy the music that you play, whether at the ceremony or at the reception.
