Environment Friendly Wedding Favors

The world is slowly deteriorating and what a shame it will be if the future generations will inherit a world that is polluted and hardly livable. While we can practice environmentally friendly ways in our daily life, an exciting social event such as a wedding can be an excuse to go all out and not pay attention to the damage it can do to our environment.

Even if this is a one day event, imagine if all weddings were not planned with environmentally sound practices in mind. Then the world could end up dealing with excessive trash and harmful waste that will greatly contribute to the damage in the environment. Even for wedding favors, there are ways on how you can be environmentally friendly and help not just in one but in a hundred ways (or depending how many guests you have).

For edible wedding favors, choose ones that are organic or are derived from fair trade. Choose organically-grown coffee beans or tea leaves instead of commercial ones. Without the use of harmful pesticides, the effect of purchasing organically grown produce will affect the world in the long-term, and in good ways, that is.

For the packaging of the wedding favors, use recycled materials. As for boxes, use one that is made of recycled materials or use organza bags instead. Better yet if you can do away with the packaging. It will be discarded later on, so if you can present the favors in itself, then it is all the better.

Go for edible or practical favors instead of decorative ones. For items as simple as a bookmark, you can try to use recycled paper to make them. Instead of decorative items, opt to give soaps or bottle openers. Practical items will go for a long time and will not be discarded and only to become trash.

Preparing a wedding need not be just your event. It is a special event for you but remember to be mindful of the many ways you are making an impact. More importantly, this can be a great chance for your guests to be aware of their actions towards the environment and make them realize that if you can pull off an environmentally-friendly wedding, then for sure they can practice it as well in their daily lives.
